Message from Opening Team June 2nd:

Opening Team Report

We had a meeting of Asbury’s Opening Team last evening (June 2nd) to discuss matters related to the opening of the Church due to the waning of the COVID-19 pandemic and the new guidelines of the CDC and our Governor.  Opening Team members Maureen Agnew, Nita Davies, John Doll, Robert Doll, Jim Gleason, Ken Morton, Tom Reed, Betti Scharr, and Steve Wolbach met together.

·       We believe that no one has gotten COVID-19 because of anything we have done at Asbury UMC. Praise the Lord!!!

·       Masks/Facial Coverings are no longer required for those who have gotten both doses of the vaccine. Masks/Facial coverings are still necessary for those who are immunosuppressant, who have not gotten the vaccine, and for those who simply feel safer wearing them.

·       The physical distancing lay out of the Sanctuary will continue on the right section of the Sanctuary (as you face the altar). The window side of the Sanctuary will no longer have every other pew roped off/physically distanced. In September, the physical distancing lay out of the right will be removed.

·       Koinonia/Fellowship with refreshments in our lower level will resume September 12th.

·       Our 8:00 AM Service in our lower level will resume September 12th.

·       We are in the process of opening our Nursery as soon as we can secure the needed help.

·       Due to a variety of factors, the Opening Team does not feel it is wise to conduct VBS this Summer. Our hope is that it can resume in the Summer of 2022.

·       Hybrid Worship – the combination of in-person and on-line Worship will continue! We appreciate those who come to in-person Worship AND those who join with us on-line!!!

·       We are able now to host Funerals at Asbury – the only exception being a funeral with anticipated attendance which would compromise the physical distancing of our right side of the Sanctuary which will be in place until September.

·       We will be hosting Graduation Sunday on Father’s Day – June 20th. This will include graduates from the past TWO years. We want to know about our 8th graders, High Schoolers, and College graduates connected to Asbury! Please email johndasbury@msn.com or call the Church office –856.829.3801 with information about your graduate in advance of this special Graduate Sunday.

Hope to see you in-person at Asbury or on-line at myasburyumc.com!
REMEMBER, WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

In God’s Amazing Grace,
Pastor John
